I read “Crash” by Jerry Spenelli. It was a great book wich had about 175 pages. I picked this book because even the back of it wowed me and because it’s a football book and I am a huge sports fan. It didn’t take real long to read and it really was exciting so I am glad Ms. Blaser asked me to read this book. J
The most important character was Crash Coogan. He was big and strong but he was a bully so when he asked out the girl of his dreams she said no. Then as football season started Crash was the starting fullback and he was ready to set some records most importantly the most touchdown record. With his first game in a few weeks he had a new neighbor his name was Penn Web. Penn Web was a nice kid but he was a scrawny kid and he was a vegetarian and he also gets picked on for what he wears. He is used to it though so he sticks through all the bullying and moves on with his life. Those aren’t even the most embarrassing things, the next one Crash finds out at his first game he looks towards the cheerleaders and there was the new scrawny loser, Penn Web was a cheerleader.
Crash Coogan is going for the all time touch down record but with 5 in the first game it looks like it won’t be that big of a task. While all Penn Web is trying to do is fit in but is it possible to fit in while you are a guy cheerleader, a vegetarian and live in a box sized house?
Out of 5 stars I give this a 4 and a half. The one thing this author should have did different is write a cliffhanger at the end of it and write a sequel to it so I could read the next one too! I would recommend this book to sports fans. Also to kids who just like a good story. I know I liked this book I think other kids might too. J
